Any reference to:

  • "we", "us", "our" or "Billie" should be understood as a reference to Billie Loans Pty Ltd or the other subsidiaries within the group; and
  • "you" or "your" should be understood as a reference to a data subject whose personal information we control or process for the purposes described in this privacy policy.

2. About this Policy

This Policy sets out how we collect, use, store and disclose your personal information. By 'personal information' we mean information or an opinion about an identified individual, or an individual who is reasonably identifiable. Some technical information we collect online—such as an IP address, device identifier or cookie ID—may not identify you on its own. However, it may be 'personal information' if, in the circumstances, it can reasonably identify you, including where it is linked (or reasonably linkable) to information such as your name, contact details, account, application or identity verification information. Personal information does not include information that has been made anonymous and cannot reasonably identify an individual.

We are bound by the Australian Privacy Principles ("APPs") and the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) ("Privacy Act") for personal information relating to customers.

We may change or update this Policy from time to time. The updated version will be available by following the 'Privacy Policy' link on our website.

The aggregated data we generate may be shared with related entities and may be further enriched using third-party information. Where we share insights externally, we take steps to ensure the information is aggregated and de‑identified so that individuals are not reasonably identifiable.

We may gather personal information about third-party service providers and their employees as part of our business operations. This information could include names, contact details, and job titles. Such data will be collected either directly from the individuals concerned or through the relevant third-party service provider.

6. Why Billie collects your personal information

We may also collect and use personal information for related operational purposes (such as customer support, analytics and security), to meet legal and regulatory obligations (including under the AML/CTF Act), for purposes you have agreed to, and for any other use permitted under the Privacy Act and APPs.

We may also use aggregated and de‑identified information to help us understand how our products are used and to improve them. Where we share insights externally, we do so in aggregated and de‑identified form.

We may disclose limited identification information to Equifax (a credit reporting body) solely to verify your identity through Document Verification Service (DVS) checks and other identity verification processes required under the AML/CTF Act.

If, in the future, Billie begins to participate in credit reporting (for example, by obtaining credit reporting information or making credit enquiries, or by disclosing default or repayment information to a credit reporting body), we will update this Privacy Policy and provide you with any additional notices and/or obtain any consents required by law.

8. Direct marketing

For example, some cloud or AI service providers may store or process information outside Australia. The countries where recipients are likely to be located may include the United States. When we disclose personal information overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure the recipient handles the information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles, or otherwise obtain your consent where required.

11. Cookies and third party analytics

We use cookies and similar tracking technologies on our website to enhance your experience and improve our products and services. When you visit our website or use our services, small files may be placed on your computer, mobile device, or other devices by us or our third-party service providers. These files collect information about your browsing activity, helping us determine which pages are visited most frequently, improve website usability, personalize your experience, and display targeted advertising we believe may interest you.

You can adjust your browser settings to disable cookies unless they are essential for fraud prevention or website security. Please note that disabling cookies may cause our website and services to function improperly.

Any information collected through cookies, tracking technologies, or third-party analytics services—including where that information is personal information in the circumstances—is handled in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

12. Security

We hold your personal information in electronic form and may store your personal information with trusted third-party service providers. We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, interference and loss, as well as unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. We use a number of physical, administrative, personnel and technical measures to protect your personal information.

Measures we take to protect your personal information include:

  • using appropriate information technology and processes;
  • restricting access to your personal information to our employees and those who perform services for us who need your personal information to do what we have engaged them to do;
  • using computer and network security systems with appropriate firewalls, encryption technology and passwords for the protection of electronic files; and
  • securely destroying or "de-identifying" personal information if we no longer require it subject to our legal obligations to keep some information for certain prescribed periods.

We are committed to doing everything we reasonably can to protect the security and confidentiality of your personal information.

13. Links

Our website, apps, and platforms may include links to third-party websites for your convenience. These links may not always be updated or maintained. Unless explicitly stated, we are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of these external websites and have no authority or control over them.
